Part of the external British Ugandan Asian 50 oral history collection

About

Chandrika Keshavlal Joshi, with her family and other Ugandan Asians, was expelled from Uganda in 1972 by Idi Amin. As a child, she came to the UK with her family, first staying in Tonfanau Resettlement Camp in Wales, in 1972.

This interview was conducted as part of the 'British Ugandan Asians at 50' project, led by India Overseas Trust with the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project documents testimonies from residents and people who worked in the UK-based camps created for those expelled from Uganda in 1972.
