About
The 5th Pan-African Congress took place in Manchester in October 1945. It was organized by George Padmore and included an Indian delegation headed by Surat Alley. The Ceylonese student T. Subasinghe also helped to organize the event. Despite the large turnout of delegates, the conference received scant mention in the British press.
