South Asian Britain: Connecting Histories stems from the AHRC-funded project, ‘Remaking Britain: South Asian Connections and Networks, 1830s-present', a collaboration between the University of Bristol, Queen Mary University of London and the British Library, and is developed in partnership with Bristol Research IT.

The digital resource builds on, extends and incorporates materials from the Making Britain database, a product of the AHRC-funded project, 'Making Britain: South Asian Visions of Home and Abroad, 1870–1950' (AH/E009859/1) led by the Open University in partnership with the University of Oxford, Kings College London and the British Library. The previous database was conceptualized by the 'Making Britain' project team, led by Susheila Nasta (PI and database director), with Elleke Boehmer (Co-I), Ruvani Ranasinha (Co-I) and research associates Rehana Ahmed, Sumita Mukherjee and Florian Stadtler with the Open University AACS department.
